Glenn Greenwald has resigned in protest from the very entity --The Intercept--he founded to pursue fact based journalism.
While I don't always see eye to eye with Greenwald, I respect his journalistic efforts to expose the Deep State's efforts to spy on us and to repress us.

What amazes me --called it naivete--and what has been hard to comprehend, to accept, is the degree of rot within. President Trump's reelection bid received a vote of support Friday from an entity most in his party would reject: the Taliban.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told CBS News in a phone interview, "We believe that Trump is going to win the upcomingelectionbecause he has proved himself a politician who accomplished all the major promises he had made to American people, although he might have missed some small things, but did accomplish the bigger promises, so it is possible that the U.S. people who experienced deceptions in the past will once again trust Trump for his decisive actions."
Mujahid added, "We think the majority of the American population is tired of instability, economic failures and politicians' lies and will trust again on Trump because Trump is decisive, could control the situation inside the country. Other politicians, including Biden, chant unrealistic slogans. Some other groups, which are smaller in size but are involved in the military business including weapons manufacturing companies' owners and others who somehow get the benefit of war extension, they might be against Trump and support Biden, but their numbers among voters is low."
Another senior Taliban leader told CBS News, "We hope he will win the election and wind up U.S. military presence in Afghanistan."
Trump campaign spokesman Tim Murtaugh said Saturday that they "reject" the Taliban support. "The Taliban should know that the president will always protect American interests by any means necessary," Murtaugh said.
The Trump administration signed a historic pact with the Taliban in February in which the U.S. and its allies set a timetable for U.S. troops to withdraw by the spring of 2021. The pact requires the Taliban to break from al Qaeda and negotiate a power-sharing deal with Afghan government rivals.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo reiterated last month, after meeting with Taliban co-founder and political deputy Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar in Doha, that the U.S. was set for a full withdrawal from Afghanistan by April or May of 2021.
The Obama administration was unsuccessful in its attempts to broker a similar diplomatic deal. Democratic presidential nominee Joe Bidentold"Face the Nation" in February that the U.S. should draw down but also keep a residual force of "several thousand people to make sure we have a place from which we can operate" should al Qaeda or ISIS gain capacity to strike the U.S.
This week, President Trump said all troops should be "home by Christmas," although it is unclear if that is actually expected to happen or if he was simply reiterating his position on wanting to bring troops home.
The Taliban also noted it thinks highly of Mr. Trump's "America first" creed.
"It is the slogan of Trump from the start that they are not cops for the world and don't want a single flag and anthem for the globe, but their priority is America," Mujahid said. "When there is no interference by U.S. in other countries, we believe they are facing fewer threats compared to their aggressive position. Trump has a concrete policy in this regard and it is better for America."
The senior member of the Taliban praised the president's honesty. "Honestly, Trump was much more honest with us than we thought, even we were stunned with his offer to meet Taliban in Camp David."
The Taliban are religio-nationalists. A product of Pakistan's madaris (religious schools), specifically of the Deobandi flavor. Their reign was brutal, especially towards females and minorities. However, the Taliban were no less brutal than their predecessors, Burhannudin Rabbani's Jamaat-i-Islami. After 19 years of US military intervention, while conditions appear to have immensely improved for females (especially in urban areas) and minorities, these gains might as well be mirages. In reality with Western funding what has been built is a House of Cards vice tangible embedded improvements. The reasons for this failure are varied and complex.
Suffice it to say, history won't judge this intervention favorably. One that has cost American taxpayers' over a Trillion and, worse, led to thousands of US military casualties with no "mission accomplishment" because, frankly, there was never a clear cut mission with an end goal.
As I wrote in 2010 in a Christian Science Monitor article titled " Bring Back a King," the writing was already on the wall.
The Bush Administration had installed a puppet, Karzai, who had no credibility with the Afghan people. Not even fellow Pushtuns. Initial Afghan exuberance at the overthrow of the Taliban's repressive regime brought about widespread wishful thinking, even amongst a populace that, after decades of war and hardship, should've been more battle hardened (thus wiser) to let their guard down. But their wishful thinking (aka exuberance) was understandably short lived.
The question that one needs to ask is this: Why wasn't King/Amir Zahir Shah not reinstated as the majority of the people wanted?
That is a question for the ages. Even the Taliban's rank and file may have ended their jang (war) and gotten behind a Constitutional Monarchy notwithstanding the Islamists of various hues.
At this stage, it is long overdue to pull out US forces and hand back Afghanistan to the Afghans. This fight is their fight, not ours. What we should do it warn its neighbors, especially the Pakistanis, to resist the urge to meddle (and ensure continued instability), and establish some clear red lines that they must not cross.

Over the years it has been noted how pervasive pharmaceutical company ads for prescription medicines have become on television and in magazines (even, ironically, in "Health" magazine). The astounding numbers of childhood vaccines and the concomitant rise of Autism cases is no accident, but a disturbing corollary of a health care system that is dysfunctional and, possibly, irretrievably broken.
Advocating a healthy lifestyle as a necessary reality instead of pill popping, our medical establishment by and large has become the pimp for Big Pharma. Our society is sick. Although it is easy to blame rampant obesity and poor lifestyle choices on individual "weakness;" the reality is far more nuanced and malevolent.
Our food supply has been compromised. Our soil and water too. Fluoride added to our water supply has led to an epidemic of cancer and thyroid related health concerns. Rampant use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides has depleted our soil and contaminated our food supply. As a society, we have moved away from home cooking with healthy ingredients to an unhealthy reliance on fast food and take out. Exercise, another vital component for good (aka normal) health, has become a chore for far too many.
Television drug ads bombard people with quick fixes to all sorts of problems that, in reality, are due to poor choices and lead to more poor choices as band aid measures. Take for example, the flashy ads to take a pill to cure a ailment. Note the health warnings that flash by on your screen of "possible side effects" of said drug(s).
Instead of advocating what common sense would dictate (a healthy lifestyle), the conventional medical establishment is all about the pill(s) and vaccines. Rarely do they advocate on their patients behalf and advise sound lifestyle choices. Preventative medicine unfortunately is not the norm these days for a reason: there isn't much money in it for Big Pharma. Instead, the emphasis has become on the "cure." A well used farm analogy comes to mind: closing the stable door after the horse has bolted. Shouldn't the health establishment focus on causes rather than "cure"? Rather, the medical establishment (not all by any measure) today seem to be working for big business. A fact which is antithetical to the Hippocratic Oath ("Do no harm").
Now we are heading toward mandatory Covid vaccination. Individual liberty as reflected in "individual choice" seems to be in danger. Close monitoring and "health passports" are being bandied about as "the new norm" in the age of Covid. The biggest fraud ever in human history.
2020 is certainly going to go down in history as the turning point year. The year human beings across the globe in unison readily forfeited their individual liberties without a fight because they were told by their governments that the threat was dire and what was needed was a two week shut down....
Acting as sheeple, most accepted this "new normal" which has destroyed their livelihoods and, for many, their physical and mental health too.
With so many institutions compromised for short term gain (media, academia, health care etc), there is nothing "normal" in this draconian and detrimental "new normal."

On August 15th 1945, Japan accepted "unconditional surrender" and the worst war in human history came to an end.
On August 15th, 1945, Japan's Emperor Hirohito spoke to his people at noon for the first time via a taped radio broadcast:
To our good and loyal subjects....After pondering deeply the general trends of the world and the actual conditions obtaining in our empire today, we have decided … [on] an extraordinary measure. Japan would endure the unendurable and suffer what is unsufferable and surrender.
With Nazi Germany's surrender four months earlier, World War II was finally over.
Since then historians, and some of us, have pondered the "what ifs" of WWII. Following Nazi Germany's surrender, Japan refused to follow suit and capitulate to the Allied forces in the Pacific. Given Japanese martial proclivities --justified as an almost religious adherence to the Bushido Code--as evident in the various brutal hard fought campaigns throughout the Pacific from Burma to Okinawa, the Allied side was justified in its concerns over a mainland Japan campaign.
Given the Japanese mentality based on incessant universal martial indoctrination, whose shame based ethos often precluded surrender on the Japanese side, conquest would be a hard fought bloodbath on both sides to force a unconditional Japanese surrender. One didn't need to wargame the outcome to clearly understand the grave ramifications of a full scale mainland Allied campaign.
The dead toll would have been in the millions, with the bulk of the dead on the Japanese side (mostly civilians).
Thus, notwithstanding revisionist history, the historical record up to that point provided clues as to what horror lay ahead for all sides with an inevitable allied invasion of mainland Japan to force the surrender of Imperial Japan.
In early 1945, my father, Hamidullah Khan Burki, had participated in the Arakan Campaign. In March of 1943, he'd volunteered to transfer from the Royal Indian Army (RIA) to the Royal Indian Navy (RIN) when the RIN sought volunteers from the Army infantry as crew for their few landing crafts. Given the Burmese terrain, with its lush jungles and many waterways, with non-existent roads, along with air drops (of supplies and men), these landing craft were pivotal
In the coastal province of Arakan, Allied amphibious landings secured vital offshore islands and inflicted heavy casualties, although the Japanese maintained some positions until the end of the campaign.
My father was slated to participate in Operation Zipper. They were trained up for this mission. With the two nuclear strikes, and the war at an end, my father and his fellow warriors never embarked on this next mission which may have led to his death, and the death and maiming of his fellow warriors. For this I am eternally grateful.

A system embedded with seeds of its own destruction. Every single country under the "communism cloud" was/is a totalitarian hell hole. Note the economic dichotomies: Taiwan and Hong Kong vs China; South Korea vs. North Korea; Venezuela since Chavez; West Germany vs. East Germany; Cambodia under Pol Pot; Cuba pre-Castro and Cuba today. On and on and on. There isn't a single country that has thrived under Communism. Not one. Therein lies the seeds of their respective, and inevitable, demise. However, the painful irony is that the active measures of the KGB post WWII in the US, and the West, have borne amazing, destructive, results decades after the demise of the Soviet Union. Russia today isn't the Soviet Union.The Russian people threw off the oppressive yoke of communism and are thriving like never before in their history notwithstanding ongoing challenges. Ditto with Eastern European countries. Wonder what they think about all the crazy shit that is happening in the US today where the Democrat Party has openly embraced "communist ideals;" and advocated the destruction (in essence) of these United States as they try to wipe out both the history and culture of this once great nation.
